Town of Longboat Key SignLongboat Key, Florida is a narrow stretch of barrier island bordered by the beautiful Gulf of Mexico on one side and Sarasota Bay on the other. At only about 11 miles long, Longboat Key is home to approx. 8,000 full time residents. During the months from November through March the population more than doubles as flocks of "snowbirds" invade the island paradise. LBK, as Longboat is commonly abbreviated, features beautiful beaches on the Gulf.

Longboat Key straddles Sarasota and Manatee counties with the majority of the commercial development such as shops and restaurants on the north end of the island. Coquina Beach in Bradenton on Anna Maria Island is just over the north bridge from Longboat Key and the town of Anna Maria is just a short ride from there.
